Ken Prickett at Lake Oswego's Cultural Xchange

Ken Prickett attends special events and bazaars throughout the year selling handcrafted products from Africa—with proceeds supporting Framework's school-building work in Ghana. His standout offering: vibrant woven baskets created by women in Ghana who earn income to support their children's education. When you purchase a basket, your money directly funds the construction and renovation of public primary schools in Ghana—connecting artisans, students, and donors in a cycle of shared opportunity.

“Mafanikio” is a Juneteenth-aligned event celebrating the impact, resilience, and cultural significance of Black business and entrepreneurship. Mafanikio is a Swahili word meaning success, achievement, and prosperity, and our goal is to uplift Black excellence while inspiring students and strengthening connections within our community. This event honors the perseverance of the past while uplifting the achievements and promise of today’s students and community inviting all to reflect honestly, celebrate joyfully, and look ahead with intention. This vibrant gathering celebrates the resilience and cultural contributions of Black communities while elevating the voices of the next generation.
